You can create and manage rules if you have the appropriate permissions.

Rules are fully-automated process segments that can be used in multiple contexts to perform actions and transform data. While a stream's process definition is confined to that stream, a rule can be invoked as a step in any stream process, and it can be made to operate when the user presses a button in a form. Rules use the same Checkin and Checkout process as streams.

 

Rules can be invoked from:

• Action buttons or pre-submit rules in a Form
• On-change Events in Smart Object fields
• Actions triggered by Task Events
• Conditional Action steps in a Process or Rule definition
• Validations in a stream data component

They can:

• Perform simple and complex transformations of data, using a decision matrix when needed.
• Integrate with an external data source to send and receive data.
• Display error messages.
• ​Invoke other rules as part of the processes they execute.

To create and manage rules:

1. Click the Gear Menu.
2. Click Rules Management
3. Select an existing rule to view and edit it, or click Create a new rule.
