When viewing a process record, the Milestone sequence at the right shows progress at a glance. At the top of that section, there is a link to View Process Flow. Clicking that link brings up a diagram like this one:

    

This, in flowchart form, is the sequence of steps that make up the Leave of Absence process. We won't go into any great detail at this point. (For that, see the many pages in For Designers/Streams.) But just to highlight a few of the major items, a process stream may contain:

• Conditional branches (shown as a diamond in the flowchart)
• Multi-way splits (not shown) to allow several things to happen in parallel
• Calculations (the square box at top left)
• Loops (not shown here), which could exit after accumulating a calculated value or as the result of some user action.
• Actions (shown as square boxes), which may initiate a communication, wait for one, or create a task that needs to be completed before the next step can occur. (As, for example, the review tasks we've seen so far.)

In addition:

• Note the color of the arrows in the process. The path this process has taken is marked with dark green arrows, while paths not taken (including paths the process has yet to take, at the bottom), are marked with light green arrows.
• Similarly, the boxes for actions that have been performed (or pending) are marked with a green border.
• Milestones are also defined in the stream flow, (They are specified when editing an action step. They're not shown in this display-only view, but can be seen and modified when the process is edited.
