Importing Groups

To add more than a couple of groups or editing more than couple of group's details, importing groups is a better option than adding or editing one by one manually.

To Import, we need group data in a CSV file. For groups object, the CSV should have at least ID, Name and Parent Group ID as they are required fields. Once added, ID of a group cannot be updated. The CSV file can have all the fields as columns that need to be added.

To import this CSV file

1. Go to gear icon at the top right corner of the page.

2. Select Account Management

3. Go to Data Imports tab

4. Start a New Import. Select Smart Object for Type and select Groups as Smart Object to Import. Select CSV file that contains Groups data to be imported.

5. Click Next button. It will open another page where you an map columns of CSV file that need to be imported into corresponding group fields. Check the Save Mapping check box and give a name to the mapping so that the mapping can be saved and reused in the future.

In future when you are importing the groups again and want to use the saved mapping, select map from 'Choose from Saved Mapping' drop down

6. Click OK button will start the import. After importing, the person who started import will receive an email with import status. You can see the status in Pulpstream too by refreshing the Data Import page.

The Data Import page will give status whether it is still in progress, completed or In Error.

It will give details of how many are added, merged, deleted, or errored.

For errored, there is a file to download in the last column 'Error File' to see what records are errored and why are errored.

Once Group mapping has been established, in future groups can also be imported using REST API Import Groups (Business Units)
