Delegating Tasks to a Stand In

When you specify a delegation, you tell the system who should get your tasks while you are away. That way, the system continues to work as it was originally designed, but you can still be away for periods of time and have the work you are generally responsible for is covered by others.

When you set up a delegation, you specify the date the delegation should take effect, and the date the delegation ends. (The delegation starts at midnight on the first day, and runs until midnight on the last day.)  You can set up several delegations, each limited to a specific stream. So for example, you can assign one set of tasks to Judy, and another set to Rajesh.

To manage delegations:

  1. In your Personal Menu, click Your Settings.
  2. Click the Delegations tab.
  3. Continuing viewing Active Delegations (the default view), or click that option to reveal a menu of additional options, including Future or Past Delegations, or to order the delegations by the date they were last modified.
  4. Click an existing delegation to make modifications, or click New to create a new one.
  5. Specify the person to delegate, the start and end dates, and the stream that particular delegation is limited to.

If there are multiple streams, they are processed in order. So if there is a single-stream delegation that goes to Fred, followed by an unlimited delegation that goes to Judy, then Fred gets everything in that one stream, while Judy gets everything else.
